Driving in San Diego is Not Great…

A new WalletHub study ranks San Diego 85th out of 100 major U.S. cities for driver-friendliness, citing high costs, congestion, and infrastructure challenges. While cities like Corpus Christi, Greensboro, and Boise topped the list for affordability and smooth commutes, San Diego’s ranking reflects longer drive times, higher gas prices, and expensive maintenance. California cities dominated the bottom of the list, with Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Oakland also among the nation’s toughest places to drive.

Oceanside Approves 7 Story Building

The Oceanside City Council has unanimously approved a seven-story mixed-use project to replace the aging Regal Cinema complex on Mission Avenue. The revised plan includes 326 apartments, expanded retail and restaurant space, and a larger public plaza designed in response to community feedback. The plaza—now over 15,000 square feet—will remain open to the public through 2064 and continue hosting events like Oceanside’s annual Christmas tree lighting. With 33 affordable units and enhanced pedestrian space, city leaders say the project is expected to become a new “iconic” destination for downtown.
