San Diego FC debuts new menu for the upcoming season at Snapdragon Stadium

San Diego FC has officially rolled out their new menu for the upcoming season — and it’s a hit. With a variety of local favorites and Southern California-inspired dishes, this menu has been updated with San Diegans in mind. Some personal favorites include the esquite cup (from SoCal Street Dogs and Esquites), the Godfather sandwich (from The Girls Deli), and the Jamaica Agua Frescas (also from SoCal Street Dogs and Esquites). Other new additions include Crack Shack with the Cali Drip, Gaglione Bros with a Cheesesteak, Sandbar with carne asada nachos, and many more.

UC San Diego glaciologist to lead NASA mission

NASA has selected a University of California San Diego-led satellite mission for the Earth System Explorers (ESE) program. Earth Dynamics Geodetic Explorer (EDGE) led by Scripps Institution of Oceanography glaciologist Helen Fricker is “one of two next-generation satellite missions selected to help better understand Earth and improve capabilities to foresee environmental events and mitigate disasters,” according to UC San Diego’s website. Fricker says this technology will allow scientists to track two of earth’s vital signs: how much carbon is stored in forests, and how much ice there is.

🎬 Reel Recap + Real Details

San Diego Coastal Commission has approved new short term rental rules for Encinitas and Del Mar

The San Diego Coastal Commission has approved two very different guidelines for short-term rentals (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.) in Encinitas and Del Mar. In Del Mar, there are only approximately 2,500 homes in the entire city. The new rules cap short-term rental permits at 129 total; owners have to live in the home at least half of the year, non-hosted rentals are no longer allowed, and there is a three-night minimum stay. Around 150 rentals will be grandfathered in, but no new permits will be issued until that number drops below the cap of 129.

Encinitas appears to take a different approach. Non-hosted rentals (meaning the owner doesn’t have to live there) will be capped at 2.5% city wide, and 4% west of the 5. They have reduced the minimum stay to two nights, and hosted rentals won’t be capped at all.

The Spreckels Theatre is heading to auction  🎭

Spreckels Theatre was listed earlier this month for a lender-driven auction. Possible buyers will have 48 hours when the auction opens on March 23 to place bids, which start at $5 million. The last buyers, Taconic Capital Advisors and Triangle Capital Group, purchased Spreckels Theatre in 2021 for $26.5 million, but a promised restoration never materialized. But the bigger story? This could actually help anchor a brand-new downtown arts district. Downtown has four historic theaters already back in action.. could this be the missing piece?

Local Eats and Coffee Shops ❤️

Coffee Shop of the Week: Parakeet Cafe

📍 Del Mar | 3745 Paseo Pl

This cute cafe with outdoor seating specializes in acai bowls, avocado toast, and delicious lattes. It was created when the owners’ daughter was diagnosed with a rare illness as a baby. As new parents, they turned to food as a source of healing and hope. That journey showed them that real, nourishing food can truly change lives. Now they’re doing just that — changing and uplifting lives in North County. This cafe is a welcoming hub for all ages to come and connect, share a laugh (or a meal). It’s a place to enjoy vibrant, wholesome meals made with organic, locally sourced ingredients.

🍴 Restaurant of the Week: Pho Truc Xanh

📍 Vista | 770 Sycamore Ave

I love a nice warm bowl of Pho when its raining. This family owned restaurant used to call Escondido home, but they recently moved to a completely remodeled location in Vista with a larger, more comfortable dining room, and a new, modern kitchen. At Pho Truc Xanh, they blend Chinese and Vietnamese traditional food to create a vibrant menu, all made with fresh ingredients. Great food, great service.

📺 What’s Changing and What You Should Know about SD

The San Diego Condo Market is Shrinking at an Alarming Rate

San Diego’s condo inventory isn’t actually collapsing; it’s up 45% year over year across the county, but the headline numbers don’t tell the full story. With just one condo building actively under construction in all of Downtown San Diego, the real question is whether the market is truly shrinking heading into 2026, or whether buyers and sellers are misreading what’s happening beneath the surface.

In this video, I break down the newest data on supply, sales, and construction, and show which trends are fueling the panic, and which ones point to a very different outcome. Watch through to the end, then comment with the neighborhood or building you’re tracking, and subscribe for weekly, data-backed updates that help you make smarter moves in the San Diego condo market.

The San Diego Housing Market Makes Zero Sense

San Diego’s housing market is doing something that feels impossible at first glance: about 78% of homes lost value last year, compared to 53% nationally. Prices are slipping, inventory is still tight, and yet homes are selling faster than almost anywhere else. If you’re trying to make a move here, those contradictions can either confuse you into waiting—or help you time your decision correctly.

In this video, I’m breaking down every one of those signals and what they actually mean in real life: where demand is still strong, why speed doesn’t always equal price growth, and how the market can cool and stay competitive at the same time. Watch through to the end, then tell me if you’re buying or selling and which part of San Diego you’re focused on, and I’ll help you read the numbers for your situation.
