San Diego to Host First California Michelin Guide Awards Ceremony

The Michelin Guide has officially announced it will hold its 2026 California restaurant awards ceremony in San Diego on June 24.

Since the Michelin Guide expanded to cover all of California in 2019 (prompting the inclusion of San Diego to the scene), all of the awards have taken place north in cities like LA, Sacramento, or Dana Point. San Diego hosting the 2026 California award doesn’t mean that we will be receiving any special recognition, but it at least means that we will get national press attention to our five Michelin-starred restaurants and food scene.

The Apple Store is Leaving Escondido

Apple plans to close its store inside the North County Mall in Escondido this June. They are permanently closing two additional U.S. retail stores in June 2026—in Towson, MD, and Trumbull, CT—primarily due to declining conditions at shopping malls, including the loss of other retailers and reduced foot traffic. While closing these locations, Apple continues to open new stores, indicating a targeted reduction in underperforming malls rather than Apple stores in general.

Enjoy the final regular season Gulls game at Pechanga Arena!

The San Diego Gulls have secured the last playoff spot in the Pacific Division of the American Hockey League. They will finish their regular season with a game against Ontario on Friday and a home game against Coachella Valley on Sunday. The Gulls made it to the playoffs last weekend. If the current standings remain the same, they will play against the second-seeded Colorado Eagles in a best-of-three series starting next week in Loveland, Colorado. The playoff schedule will be announced on Monday.
