🎨 A Different Lens: How Oceanside Is Celebrating Neurodivergent Artists Through Powerful New Exhibit

There’s something inspiring unfolding just blocks from the beach in Oceanside—a new exhibit that's reimagining what art can be and who gets to create it. “Art of Autism: A Different Lens” at the Oceanside Museum of Art is more than just a showcase of beautiful works—it's a bold celebration of neurodivergent artists and a powerful statement on visibility, inclusion, and expression. Featuring 14 talented artists from across Southern California, the exhibit invites viewers to experience creativity through a deeply personal and often underrepresented lens.

Curated in partnership with the nonprofit The Art of Autism, this emotionally rich exhibit includes textured paintings, bold digital works, and deeply moving pieces like Austin Jones’ Intertwined and Hollow, which explore connection and sensory overload through the lens of autism. Oceanside, already known for its surf culture and creative energy, continues to solidify its role as a cultural beacon by championing stories that matter.

‍🚀 A Historic Splashdown Off Oceanside: First Space Crew in 50 Years Lands in Pacific Waters

Oceanside just made spaceflight history. On April 4, 2025, Fram2—a private orbital mission—became the first crewed spaceflight in 50 years to splash down in the Pacific, landing just off the coast of this laid-back surf town. The mission was historic in more ways than one: its four astronauts, hailing from Norway, Germany, Australia, and Malta, became the first humans to orbit directly over both the North and South Poles. From capturing breathtaking polar views to conducting space-based X-rays and science experiments, the mission blended exploration, innovation, and a dash of symbolism—right down to carrying a relic from a 19th-century polar ship onboard.

🥑 Holy Guacamole, It’s Festival Time!

If you love avocados (and who doesn’t?), then clear your calendar—because the Fallbrook Avocado Festival is back this Sunday, April 13, and it’s going to be smashed with fun! Held in the “Avocado Capital of the World,” this beloved annual tradition is celebrating its 38th year with everything from avo-tacos and guac-filled goodies to live music, handmade art, and even a “Best Dressed Avocado” contest. Yes, you read that right.
