Heads Up, Travelers: No REAL ID? TSA Will Charge You $45 Starting Feb. 1

If you’re flying domestically in 2026 and still don’t have a REAL ID, prepare to pay a new $45 TSA fee just to get through security. The agency says most travelers are already compliant, but the fee is meant to push the rest over the finish line — and it doesn’t even guarantee approval. Travelers without a REAL ID (or another accepted ID like a passport) will need to use TSA’s “Confirm.ID” system, which can take up to 30 minutes and only covers a 10-day travel window.

Curious who needs to pay, what documents still work, and why REAL ID enforcement is tightening after years of delays?

Souplantation / Sweet Tomatoes Tease Potential San Diego Homecoming

Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes just posted  a cryptic, wizard-themed post on Instgram. They teased, “ whisper on the wind, a spell long cast… I once stood proud where the ocean waves meet sand, Serving salads and soups with a wave of my hand. I’ve been away, but magic stirs anew… Where could I return? Can you guess the view? 🌊🥗” Locals are buzzing in the speculation, and immediately flooded the comments with one answer: San Diego, the birthplace of the brand and the city that’s been campaigning hardest for its comeback.

But while the company stays coy, real-world signs of a revival are already popping up across the country — including newly filed construction permits at a former Florida location and another successful reopening in Tucson. With the chain’s new owners quietly rebuilding the brand and nostalgia for Souplantation at an all-time high, the clues are starting to point toward something bigger.

Is San Diego next? The wizard’s riddle doesn’t say outright — but the momentum, the history, and the fan demand all make the possibility harder to ignore.

Sony Sells Its Rancho Bernardo Headquarters — and the Price Tag Says a Lot About San Diego’s Office Market

Sony has officially sold its Rancho Bernardo headquarters for $67.4 million, marking one of the biggest office deals San Diego has seen in years — and a rare return of institutional investors to a market that’s been dominated lately by bargain-hunters scooping up distressed towers.

The tech giant spent $150 million building the 11-story campus back in 2009 and will now lease back only part of the space, raising new questions about its long-term footprint in San Diego. Meanwhile, the buyer — Irvine-based LBA Properties — beat out 17 other bidders, signaling renewed confidence in the Rancho Bernardo tech corridor, home to neighbors like Apple’s sprawling campus.

What does this sale reveal about corporate strategy, the future of local office demand, and why big investors suddenly want back in?
